Hi guys,
The 09/10 cricket season is fast approaching and I must say there is a great deal of excitement and anticipation around the Broadbeach cricket club for the upcoming season as much work has been put in place in the off season to enable us to have every opportunity to be successful in ALL GRADES.
We have put into place structures off the field which will ensure the place is an enjoyable place to be around from a social point of view which can only add to the enjoyment of playing cricket for the cats.
Captains have already appointed at this early stage and this was a deliberate decision so that plans can be put in place for each grade and they can follow a specific direction which will allow them to move forward in a positive manner. Also players can feel comfortable speaking to each of these guys as well as myself regarding any issues they see fit ensuring everyone is mentally prepared and ready to go for round 1.
Sean Fitzsimmons will captain first grade and we all know a focused Sean will be a very good leader and the club is expecting big things from him both individually and as first grade captain this year.
Jay Skinner will captain second grade and as a club we are excited by this as Jay certainly has the passion and wants a chance to improve on last years results. With a few old players returning and a few pommies we all hope second grade will be a lot stronger this year.
Jason Cox has been appointed third grade captain and there is no doubt his years of experience and his desire to unite this side will only see third grade improve on some already credible performances last year under Brett Ingham who unfortunately has had to stand down as captain due to work commitments but the good news is Brett will be back helping this side as a player. Thanks for your effort last year Brett and good luck Jason!!
Paul Sinclair takes over from Rob Hayes who did such a stellar job last season, Rob desire is to just play this year, we all know the work Paul has done both as a support to myself and to Rob last year and I am sure the transition will be smooth and seamless. Thanks for your effort last year Rob and good luck Paul!!
Tommy Rossiter will once again captain fifth grade and continue the fine job he did from last season. Tommy will also be our Net Captain this year and is really stepping up to support the club and coach in a big way.
TRAINING
If we want to achieve special thing as a club this year training becomes critical, I do not want guys to come to training because they “have to”, I want you to come because you WANT TO.
Enjoy training and try to get something out of it which can only help your team and yourself to perform better on a Saturday- I have really simple thoughts on this- everyone enjoys their cricket if they are winning and performing well individually and easiest way to achieve this is to practice, practice and practice!!!
