First game saw us off to a good start scoring 317 @ home against Helensvale. Unfortunately we were rained out the next week which cost us some valuable points. Top scorers were Mat Robins (76) our new English recruit, Sean Fitzsimmons (65) and Andy Mannion (47). With handy contributions from lower order bats Tomoya Tronson (38) and Luke Presley (34)
Second Game we travelled to Alberton and batted with determination all day to post 207. Top scorers were Mark George (50) Tomoya Tronson (31) Sean Fitzsimmons (28) and Joel Kennan (26). Unfortunately Shane Connors rode his luck all day to blasted 160 for Alberton. Creditable bowling performances from Mark George 15-0-2-49 and Jeff Anning 11-01-27.
Third game we played Surfers at home and we asked them to bat. They scored a competitive 220 with a fine 103 by Todd Schloss.Pick of the bowlers were Shane Davis 12-3-2-35 and Mat Robins 8-3-3-18. Our batters stuck to the task all day and passed them 7 down. Outstanding performance by Mitch Rowing (85) with help from Andy Mannion (34) and Sean Fitzsimmons (23).
Fourth game we played Southport at Southport, they won the toss and batted. In a good batting effort they made 247.Best bowler for the day was Ben Coombs with figures of 22-4-4-55. Losing early wickets we never looked like getting close to their total with only Joel Kennan (23) making a contribution.
Fifth game we were away to Palm Beach we won the toss and batted in a rain reduced 1 day game. We made 161 in 36 over’s with top scorers Luke Presley (29) and Mark George (22). We then bowled out Palmy with for 131 in 31 over’s. Best bowlers were Sean Fitzsimmons 8-1-3-32 and Ben Coombs 8-1-3-32.
Sixth game saw us playing at home against Mudgeeraba Nerang; we won the toss and batted first. Toiling hard all day we made 208 off 73 over’s with Julian Hanrahan (85) and Kurt Wallace (52) the pick of the batters, with good support from Tomoya Tronson (34). Mudgeeraba made it to 180 before being bowled out. Tomoya Tronson starred with the ball taking 5 wickets in 11 over’s for 12 runs, with great support from Ben Coombs 28-5-2-67.
Seventh game saw us at home against Loganholme. A dismal batting display saw us get bowled out for 86. With only Kurt Wallace (27) worth mentioning. Loganholme then passed our score easily making 252. Best bowlers were Jeff Anning 15-5-3-43 and Shane Davis12-2-3-32.
Eight game saw us batting first on a wet pitch at Coomera. We toiled all day to make 186 off 68 over’s. Best batters were Julian Hanrahan (37) and Andy Mannion (31). The next week was washed out and we settled with a draw.
Ninth game was a rain reduced 1 day game, which proved to be a low scoring game. Queens were bowled out for 107 and we passed their score 2 wickets down. Best bowler was Mark George 8-3-3-17 and best batter was Joel Kennan with 63.
Tenth game we played away at Logan Village they batted first and made 4/172 off the scheduled 40 over’s. Best bowlers were Luke Presley and Mark Souter with a wicket a piece. We then batted well to pass their score 5 down off 32 over’s. Best batters were Sean Fitzsimmons (48no), Mitch Rowing (37) and Joel Kennan (33).
Eleventh and final game and we needed to win outright to make the finals. No such luck as we fell short in a low scoring game. We bowled well to finish their innings on 129 but unfortunately our batters let us down falling for 113. Best bowlers were Jeff Anning 14-5-6-24 and Ben Coombs 12-3-3-23. Best batters were Sean Fitzsimmons (44) and Kurt Wallace (27no)
Overall a disappointing season with few highs, with only a view to next year in our minds
