Third Grade End Of Season 07/08 Report

Round 1 vs Coomera Hope Island

We batted 1^st  and despite most getting starts we got only 154 (thanks mainly to the lower order Hayden Kitchener 29+ Tim Burke 23+ Sam Robertson 22). After a promising start ( 3/22) C.H.I. put on 194(Simon Taylor 2-56+Adam Sinclair 3-31+ Tim Burke 3-31). 2^nd innings. Started well but a middle order collapse (7-14 to be 9-63) then Josh Robson 34+ Sam Shepherd 20 added 65 for the last wicket to total 128, to lead by 88.which looked enough briefly as C.H.I. were 3-1before being 5 down to win outright, not the best start.

Round 2 vs Queens

Again batting 1^st  Chris Andrews 48+ paul Sinclair 47 set up a total of 219 (Tim Burke 36no). We then bundled out Queens for128 with Crag Werb3-34+Jon Postle4-29+ Josh Robson 3catches the main destroyers. 2^nd innings we declared @9-151 (Craig Werb 31+Hayden Kitchener 20+ Jon Postle 20+ Josh Robson 34 from 9balls)  a lead of242 with 20 overs left, Queens were 4-187 at close of play. 1^st innings win.

 Round3 vs Mudgeeraba Red

With Vince Serci’s devastating bowling (6-27 off 16) Mudgee Red were Routed for 81, then Hayden Kitchener 58,Brett Ingham 72 +Dave Meiring 40no we reached 288. In 2^nd dig Mudgee red were only marginally better with 122, Vince 2-14, Hayden 3-46+ Adam Sinclair 3-10 and 3 catches, to give us an outright win.

 Round4 vs Runaway Bay

Thanks to Hayden 3-44+ Tim burke 3-15 we only had 147 to chase. Chris Andrews 36, Sunni Modi22, Hayden 38, Paul Sinclair 51 and Jon Postle 21we had a 74 lead with 221. 2^nd innings saw Vince 4-33, Hayden 3-49the best as we won on 1^st innings.

 Round5 vs Helensvale Pacific Pines

We bowled them out for 97(Vince4-21, Josh Robson 3-10) and 82(Josh 5-43, Simon Taylor 2-9), with amassing 4-319(Chris Andrews 119no, Sanju Modi 86, Craig Werb 86) For a crushing outright win.

 Round6 vs Palm Beach Currumbin

Bowling 1^st we had them all out for 220(Vince 3-36, Brett 2-14, + Adam Sinclair(buckets)3 catches), so with Vince 40, Hayden, 27, Lochie Common 39, Craig Sinclair 26, Josh Robson 24 we could only manage 210. then PBC set about leaving us 196 to win off 12 overs we ended with 119 6 down for a fighting 1^st innings loss.

 Round7 vs Tamborine

The game was reduced to a 1 dayer due to rain week 1, after 40 overs they were 9-175, in reply despite Sanju 61 and Tim Defner 20 we only managed 143

 Round8 Bye

 Round9 vs Southport Labrador

We bowled them out for 211(Vince 2-26, Brett 2-44, Tim Burke 4-38 we then were bundled out for 110 with 7 of us getting to double figures but none getting more than 17,not good enough. Following on we were 5-200 at close with Andrew Rodrick 23, Hayden 78 + Paul Sinclair 51. result 1^st innings loss.

 Round10 vs Burleigh

We declared at 9-200(Paul Sinclair 35, Brett 23, Josh Robson 41). Routed them for 96 and 107(vince 7-45+ 2-34, Jon Postle 4-56, Josh 3-15, we needed 5 and won outright.

 Round11 vs Mudgeeraba Blue

With a win needed we scored 211( Craig Werb 78, Paul Sinclair 37 Brett 38) then we bowled them out for 173, (Simon Taylor 3-47, Josh 4-26,then we were 3-111 at close (Andrew Rodrick 30, Sanju 23 Craig 42, to win on 1^st innings and make the semi-finals!

 Semi-final vs Coomera Hope Island

We batted 1^st had no luck with some crucial decisions going against us, and were all out for 165 (Andrew  43, Sunni 20 Josh 24) despite everyone's great effort (especially Vince 4-54) CHI past our score 6 down.

            All in all it was a solid season and I’m sure that with a little luck and a less disjointed side at the business end of the season we could have gone all the way. Thanks to all that were part of the side during the season and BRING ON ’08-’09!!
